I bow to the Arihantas (the perfect human beings), I bow to the Siddhhas (liberated souls), I bow to the Acharyas (masters and the heads of congregations), I bow to the Upadhyayas (spiritual teachers), I bow to all the Sadhus (spiritual practitioners) in the world. Mahavir Jayanti is one of the most prominent festivals in Jainism. Celebrating the birth of Mahaveer, the twenty-fourth and last Tirthankara.
Ṇamōkāra mantra is the most significant mantra in Jainism. This is the first prayer recited by the Jains while meditating. The mantra is also variously referred to as the Pancha Namaskāra Mantra, Navakāra Mantra or Namaskāra Mantra. While reciting this mantra, the devotee bows with respect to the Panch Parameshti (the Supreme Five):
There is no mention of any particular names of the gods or any specific person. The prayer is done towards the guṇa (the good qualities) of the gods, teachers and the saints. Jains do not ask for any favors or material benefits from the tirthankaras or monastics. This mantra simply serves as a gesture of deep respect towards beings whom they believe are spiritually evolved, as well as to remind the people of their ultimate goal i.e. moksha (liberation). Navkar Mantra consists of 35 letters.
Arihant— Those who have destroyed the four inimical karmas
Siddha — The liberated souls
Acharyas — The spiritual leaders or Preceptors
Upadhyaya — Preceptor of less advanced ascetics
Sādhu — The monks or sages in the world
There is no mention of any particular names of the gods or any specific person. Instead, the Namokar mantra focuses on the guṇa (the good qualities) of the gods, teachers and the saints. It can be noted that this mantra does not ask for any favors or material benefits from the Tirthankaras or monastics.

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः। तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि। धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्॥
oṃ bhūrbhuvaḥ svaḥ। tatsaviturvareṇyaṃ bhargo devasya dhīmahi। dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt॥
We meditate on the glory of that being (Savitur, the sun) who has produced this universe, who is the essence of our life existence; May we imbibe his divinity and brilliance within us.
The purpose of Gayatri Mantra!
The purpose of Gayatri mantra is to offer prayers to the sun god, Savitur. The god which has given us everything, which has made life possible on this planet, which grants us light and energy. The sun which always gives and never asks for anything in return, the Gayatri mantra is a way of giving back in the form of prayer and respect to that ever-giving entity. This mantra invokes a sense of inclusiveness; imagine you offering respects to the sun on behalf of all the beings in this world, wouldn’t that make you think much larger than just yourself? The correct mindset that we all need when we begin our day.
Why Gayatri Mantra is so popular?
Gayatri Mantra is from one of the oldest texts ‘Rig Veda’, composed by Sage Vishwamitra. It is a popular belief that Vishwamitra after long practice and penance discovered Gayatri mantra which according to him was not just a boon for himself but for the entire mankind. Upon chanting this mantra, the chanter and the listener both are most benefited with the vibrational positive energy of the mantra. And the fact that many practitioners have found Gayatri mantra so enriching, it has become popular over the centuries.
The Analysis (Dissection) of the Gayatri Mantra:
